At our opening of Art and Craft this Sunday, we are pleased to have Dr. Edwin Smith signing his newly released book ‘Imagemaking and the Bermudian Artist.’ The book is intended to acknowledge, analyse, and celebrate visual art created through the perspectives of artists for whom Bermuda is, or has been, home; it features art about art.

“While locally-based artists continue to be fascinated with the island’s physical beauty and its brilliant light and colour, their interests, media, and activities have widened. This now includes individuals from a wider cross-section of the community who explore and manipulate formal elements and techniques.

“Bermudian artists, increasingly, see their work as a voice, as an invitation to dialogue, as an embodiment of ideas, and as a source of identity.”
