Jason Blue Harris presently has a solo show at The Bermuda Arts Centre.
The pictures that we are posting of his work does it no justice. The beauty of Jason’s work is that it jumps out to you. You can almost be forgiven for wanting to run your fingers over the rocks, wooden doors and feeling like perhaps you actually open one of the windows.
The only way to truly appreciate this show is to see it !!!
Jason is a sixth generation Bermudian, and a second generation House painter.
“I’ve painted houses here in Bermuda most of my life, and grew up in one of the older houses on the island. Over the years I have developed an appreciation for the unique architecture which we have on the island.
I’ve always had a special place in my heart for Bermuda’s older houses, and it is reflected in my paintings. My pieces are actually half sculpture and half painting.
First I build out the painting with a kind of spackle or mud – layer upon layer, then paint is applied. I use all media on my work, even mixing water colour with oil paint.
A friend of mine named the style ‘Three Dimensional Realism’, and it sounded good to me ! “
